How to study and learn better in less time

If you want to study fewer total hours, you’ll accomplish twice as much per hour if you isolate yourself in a quiet place with no distractions for your intense study sessions. That would include any difficult reading, working example problems, and studying and writing in your notes. I used to make the mistake of sort of wanting to socialize and mostly knowing I needed to study, and sitting in a place where I could see everything going on on the floor below me in the library. I did get great grades, but I discovered later that just sucking it up and going into a study carrel for an hour or so allowed me a a much deeper concentration so I learned more in less time.

There are times you’ll need to study with others, of course, such as group projects or just meeting with study buddies once in a while to fill in gaps in notes and knowledge. But trying to study in a distracting environment just because you don’t want to be lonely or miss anything will most likely prolong your study time unless the material is really easy.

Go ahead and shut the world out and get your work done! Then come out and enjoy having some fun, guilt-free, because you got so much accomplished!
